Terrariums

by Ashwin

There’s this theory I can’t stop thinking about whenever I wonder about where we might have come from. It’s kind of wild, but it’s stuck with me for a while now.

The idea is like Terrariums—you know, those little self-sustaining ecosystems in glass jars? They’re pretty fascinating when you think about it. Everything inside is cut off from the outside world, yet it thrives. There’s life, death, and the whole cycle playing out, all inside this tiny little space. It’s cool, right?

So, here’s the twist: what if we are just like a Terrarium? What if our entire world is inside a huge, advanced version of one of those bottles? Maybe we’re being cared for—or studied—by some species that’s so advanced we can’t even imagine it. What if we’re just an experiment to see how life grows, evolves, and interacts? Or, crazier still, what if we’re just a school project for some alien kid? Like, “Hey, make a little world in a bottle and see how it turns out!”

It’s kind of mind-blowing, isn’t it? Thinking about how small and contained we might be compared to something so big and beyond what we can see. It makes me wonder—are we really as in control as we think we are? Or are we just part of some grand science fair experiment on a cosmic scale?
